Dear Patient:
We ask the you please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your appointment. Upon arrival please report directly to the Cardiology Department located on the third floor of the hospital.
In order to be tested in a safe and effective manner you must follow all instructions below.
NO EATING, DRINKING, OR SMOKING FOR FIVE HOURS PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED TIME OF YOUR TEST. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS MADE. IF YOU DO EAT, DRINK OR SMOKE YOU WILL BE SENT HOME AND MAY BE CHARGED FOR THE TEST.
You MUST have a prescription from your physician with you on the day of the test. Please bring a complete list of all your medications you are presently taking with you on the day of the test.
Refrain from drinking tea, coffee, or alcoholic beverages on the evening preceding the test.
You may take all normally prescribed medication with a small amount of water only.
PLEASE NOTE: Diabetics should not take their morning dose of insulin. This will allow your sugar to run high since you will not be eating after midnight. Your oral diabetic medication should be taken after a regular stess test. You should bring your insulin with you so that you can self administer your insulin right after the test. Return to normal insulin dosage on the day following the test. Additionally, if you take insulin twice daily, you should take your regular P.M. dosage.
Please wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes (flat, closed heel) to exercise in. You will be walking on a teadmill. No one-piece undergarments/girdles or any tight-fitting clothing.
