Dear Patient:

We ask the you please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your appointment to register. Outpatient Admitting is located in the rear of the building and is open Monday through Friday at 7:30 a.m. If you appointment is in earlier in the morning or on the weekend, you must then report to Main Admitting located off the Lobby through the main entrance of the hospital.

IMPORTANT - You must have a written order/prescription from your physician or you test WILL NOT be done.

Pulmonary Function tests are a series of breathing tests that your doctor has ordered to evaluate how much air you can take into your lungs and how rapidly you can breathe it out when making a maximal effort. These tests will help your doctor determine how well your lungs are functioning.

PREPARATION:

Because smoking and some medications can alter your test results, we ask that you stop ALL breathing medicine at least 4 hours before the test and refrain from smoking. Eating is allowed.

DURATION:

Plan on about 1/2 hour to 1 1/2 hours depending on how many tests your doctor orders.
