Dear Patient:

We ask the you please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your appointment to register. Outpatient Admitting is located in the rear of the building and is open Monday through Friday at 7:30 a.m. If you appointment is in earlier in the morning or on the weekend, you must then report to Main Admitting located off the Lobby through the main entrance of the hospital.

IMPORTANT - You MUST have a written order/prescription from your physician or you test WILL NOT be performed.

This is a test of blood drawn from your artery. Your doctor has ordered this test to tell whether your arterial blood is carrying enough oxygen and whether your lungs are eliminating the proper amount of carbon dioxide.

PREPARATION:

1. There is no preparation, but be sure to remind your doctor that you will need a written order slip for the test.

2. Bring a list of medications and last dose.

DURATION:

About 1/2 hour.
