Registered Nurse First Assistant - Per Diem Positions Available. Upgraded "on call" Pay Structure. The Registered Nurse First Assistant has the necessary education, training and competence to function as a first assistant in surgery and is accountable to the surgeon during the surgical procedure. Carries out functions that will assist the surgeon in performing a safe operation with optimal results for the patient. Performs duties of Registered Professional Nurse as delegated: Responsible for the delivery of the surgical patient through the process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation as appropriate to the ages of patients served. Assists department manager in the daily execution and maintenance of the surgery schedule. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, quality improvement programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Maintains confidentiality of all hospital / staff information. Strives to incorporate the Hospital’s goal of Quality care, in personal manner with total regard for individual human dignity.

Qualifications- Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing with NY State Licensure required. Accredited Registered Nurse First Assistant Course required. 3 – 5 years OR experience required. Completion of designated internship hours for accredited course RNFA required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification required within one year of job offer. Certified Nurse OR Certification required. Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
