General Legal Counsel
Within the Philosophy and Mission of St. Mary's Hospital and Health Center renders legal advice and counsel to Management and the Board of Directors. The In-House General Counsel works directly with Senior Management and other Management Staff, Physicians, Managers and others who have primary decision-making responsibility for the issues involved. Serves as legal counsel for aspects of patient relationships, government relationships, contracts, relations with third party payors, corporate organizations, acquisitions and sale of property and equipment and other related areas. Evaluates and determines corporate and operating legal posture. Establish and implement the means of furnishing legal services. Prepares and examines contracts. Conducts legal research. Prepares resolutions and forms, and assists in legal actions.
Outstanding opportunity for candidate with expertise in areas of General Legal Counsel in Healthcare. Successful candidate must have excellent inter-personal skills, analytic ability and communicate effectively. Interprets contractual arrangements, write contracts, conducts legal research, compleses concise reports and delivers presentations. Conflict resolution and negotiation skills reqired. Must possess integrity and sensitivity to the culture of the organization and to the business and political environment. Licensed to Practice Law in NYS with seven years experience in corporate compliance, risk management and physician contracts required. Masters in Nursing and prior management experience preferred.
